Nigel Monaghan, Senior Lighting Consultant at Luminous Solutions, is a trusted and certified Relux trainer with over 30 years of experience in lighting design and management. As a key member of the Luminous Solutions team, Nigel delivers high-quality training on Relux’s world-leading lighting design software.
A Fellow of the Society of Light and Lighting, Nigel has contributed to good practice lighting guidance and is an active member of the British Standards committee, helping to shape the “Design of an Accessible and Inclusive Environment” standard.
Passionate about sustainable lighting and an advocate for Dark Skies, Nigel is dedicated to helping professionals excel in lighting design. With Relux’s trust and his wealth of expertise, Nigel provides insightful and practical training to help you master Relux.

A comprehensive introduction to Relux software, focusing on setup, settings, luminaires, and light calculations. Perfect for beginners looking to gain a solid foundation in lighting design.
- Introduction to software setup, settings, and navigation
- Importing and exporting data with Relux interfaces
- Selecting, modifying, and placing luminaires
- Performing light calculations with Relux Express, following SN EN 12464-1 standards
- Utilizing Easylux for dynamic lighting planning
- Working with evaluation and measurement areas for accurate assessments
- Generating and interpreting results/outputs from your lighting designs
